Why Donald Trump & President Obama’s Freud Over Birth Certificates Should Be Encouraged for Adoption
Seriously.
There are several reasons why people who care about adoptees and their civil rights should be whole heartingly subscribing to supporting the Birther Movement in the USA. I know it’s hard to get away from how ridiculous the Birther Theories regarding the validity of Barack Obama’s birth certificate might seem. And it’s tough to align oneself with, well…. what I do find…. some downright scary folks; but you don’t have to actually watch Fox News to support the Birther Movement. So it’s doable, and honestly, the “Birther Bills” they are trying to pass might hold some hope for the millions of American Adoptees denied the very act that the President was pressured into; producing the legal document of their true identities.
If only we had Donald Trump grandstanding for Adoptee Rights!
Birthers Got the News Media to Say OBC
First off, this whole Birther thing has, at least, made the general public become aware of such as thing as an Original Birth Certificate. When was the last time you actually heard the news media say those words and with such a repeat occurrences? At least, now, when adoptee rights supporters talk about Original Birth Certificates, we won’t get blank eyed looks.
Birthers Proved That the White House is Clueless about Birth Certificates and Adoption
This is just too delicious NOT to call attention to. On the White house dot Gov page about the release of Obama’s OBC, this statement was, in part, released:
The state sent the campaign the President’s birth certificate, the same legal documentation provided to all Hawaiians as proof of birth in state, and the campaign immediately posted it on the internet…. When any citizen born in Hawaii requests their birth certificate, they receive exactly what the President received. In fact, the document posted on the campaign website is what Hawaiians use to get a driver’s license from the state and the document recognized by the Federal Government and the courts for all legal purposes.
Let’s repeat: “same legal documentation provided to all Hawaiians as proof of birth in state” and say it with me….
Unless they have been ADOPTED..then they can get the ABC, the Amended Birth Certificate; never will they see their OBC again under the current and archaic legislation.
Birther Bills & Adoptee Candidate = Open Records
The Birthers, for whatever their real reasoning for this deep concern, don’t ever want to have to worry about this conspiracy ever again, so there are a number of “Birther Bills” that have been introduced. Birther bills were debated in more than a dozen states to force future presidential candidates to prove their citizenship. In Arizona’s bill, passed by the state legislators only to be vetoed by the Governor, initially insisted that only a long-form birth certificate would suffice for candidates . Oklahoma had a bill that would require all candidates, from town council hopeful on up, to prove that they meet the legal requirements for office. The bill does not specify what documents would need to be filed. Birther Bills have been introduced on a federal level as well. In Congress, a bill was introduced in the last session by Rep. Bill Posey, R-Fla., that would have required presidential candidates starting in 2012 to produce their birth certificate and was knocked down when Dems had control. Some Republicans still have hope to reintroduce again.
If the Birthers get a bill passed, then, all we have to do is get an otherwise qualified, yet adopted candidate to run for office. At that point, the government would have tied itself up into a huge knot of conflicting laws. One law would demand that the candidate to produce his or her original birth certificate, while the other law would refuse to unseal it .
I would love to see Rachael Maddow get all snarky about the insanity of THAT!
Aside from the additional media attention a situation like that would demand, perhaps the blatant display of illogical values surround in the Adoptee Rights Movement could convince folks to keep the Birther Bills and open adoption birth records. After all we have every bit of logic and truth on the side of reason.
It Doesn’t Matter WHY the Birthers Do it; It’s the Outcome
While it has be said that Birther’s don’t really care about the truth, and are only either just another branch of the crazed conspiracy theory train, based in racism, or just the right wing trying desperately to undermine the President on a political level; it doesn’t really matter.
What matters is how far these loons are willing to go with this. I mean, let’s face it. The Adoptee Rights movement can use the deep pockets of some right Wing zealots. Lord knows activism is a low paying position. Let them pay to lobby and push a bill that will ultimately create a situation where the US Government has to release all the millions of original birth certificates that belong to adopted citizens.
One Thing Known for Sure About President Obama’s birth?
The President of the United States was NOT adopted. If he had been, then no matter how loud Donald Trump and the Birthers could have yelled; he would never been able to produce his birth certificate. After all, Hawaii is a state with sealed records.
