The Flip Side: A Surrogate Introduction

Submitted by Sabrina on April 28, 2009 – 8:10 amNo Comment

On December 28th, 2008 I gave birth to twins. Two little girls entered and  left my life, all in the same moment. On that beautiful day, I handed those babies to their father and my role as their “mother” ended. I am a gestational surrogate. And I grow families.

A short visit into the hell that is infertility drove me to my passion for children and families. When presented with the opportunity to be a surrogate I jumped on it. Months of injections and agency run-around followed by months of growing twins could never prepare me for the miracle  that I was blessed to witness on that day. Families? They come in all sorts of beautiful shapes and sizes. They grow in miraculous ways. I will forever be grateful to have been a part of the magic of family, both in the growing of my own and in my participation in growing others’.

Now, I begin a new journey. An online friend and I have seen needs to be filled, and as a result I will be her Gestational Surrogate this fall. In the coming weeks and months I will be blessed with the opportunity to share that journey with you, and I hope you get as much out of it as I am sure to. Surrogacy has been the biggest thing I have ever done. Bigger then me, bigger then mine. I have grown more because of my experience as a surrogate then I ever thought possible, and am very excited to share that growth

All of this is to say Hi. My name is Sabrina, and I am a Gestational surrogate. I hope to inspire, educate, and delight you. And if I don’t, I hope to at least get you thinking.
