The process is complicated with a lot of ‘hurry up and wait’ and most adoptive families can understand that.
I purposely didn’t use the word adoption so that the child can interpret the story at his/her own pace in a way that they are ready for. A parent reading this story with their child could discuss the theme with their child to see what their understanding of their adoption is and discuss it from there.
Of Different Minds is an excellent resource for Christian parents who have a child who learns differently. While still an excellent resource for non-Christians, parents should be aware that Of Different Minds contains several Scriptural references, two Bible studies and an overall Biblical perspective.
