Surrogacy in the News, Parker and Broderick Babies Born

Submitted by Sabrina on June 23, 2009 – 10:06 pmNo Comment

A big congratulations goes out to Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick as they welcomed twin daughters into their family this afternoon. “Marion Loretta Elwell Broderick weighed 5 lbs, 11 oz and Tabitha Hodge Broderick weighed 6 pounds. Both Hodge and Elwell are family names on Parker’s side. The babies are doing beautifully and the entire family is over the moon.”

This is the end to a difficult journey for their surrogate, who recently had her home illegally entered by law enforcement professionals in order to gather tabloid fodder, along with suffering a myriad of other invasions of privacy to satisfy the curiosity of the masses.

From one surrogate to another, you did a wonderful job Michelle, and thank you. Bringing surrogacy to the surface of society is important if we’re going to encourage acceptance and unconditional love for our surro-children. Working with celebrity you were put in a very difficult place of spotlight, so thank you. We need more people to step forward and acknowledge their alternative family building avenues and your sacrifice of privacy, however difficult and indignant, did further the path towards acceptance.
