The Sam Taeguk symbol can be found on many traditional Korean fans. It is a variation of the Taeguk symbol found on the Korean National flag. The Taeguk is comprised of two colors, red and blue. The red represents heaven and the blue represents earth. The symbol represents harmony similar to a Ying Yang symbol. The Sam Taeguk includes yellow to represent man.
To make your own Sam Taeguk Fan:

  • Print template on to card stock
  • Cut out
  • Paint, color or collage (traditional colors are red, blue & yellow)
  • Glue on painted (usually black) craft stick for handle

To make a two sided fan – print out two copies of the fan, decorate and glue together. You can also glue another painted craft stick on the other side.
